Angola: Council Praises Referees' Fifa Physical Tests

Luanda — The chairman of the Angolan Referees Council, Jorge Mário Fernandes, Thursday in Luanda, considered as acceptable the performance of members at the International Football Association (FIFA)'s physical tests.

He explained that the tests are part of FIFA's annual programme intended to check the physical condition of the referees, aiming at extension of their licence and admission of new members.

"The participation was positive in that there was a strong engagement, dedication on the part of everybody and we are awaiting the results that will be released by FIFA, in accordance with each and performance in the games assigned to them,", said the official.

Jorge Mario Fernandes spoke of the need for hard work in order for the professionals to improve their level of performance.

On the other hand, he said referees must have an acceptable academic training in order to better grasp the rules of the game, including the mastering of languages as a relevant factor in the communication with fellow referees.
