Nigeria: Eaglets Tackle Congo in Kaduna Sunday

Abuja — The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will this Sunday play their Congolese DR counterparts in the ongoing qualifiers for the 9th edition of the African U-17 Youth Championship slated for January/February 2011 in Rwanda. The boys had on Wednesday moved to Kaduna from their Abuja camp to intensify preparations for the important return leg match against the boys from Congo DR.

The Monday Odigie coached squad will take on the visitors at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, by 4.00pm with Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State expected to kick off the match.

The Golden Eaglets who lost the first leg encounter 0-2 on August 28, 2010, in Point Noire, are aiming to use this encounter to redeem their image and launch back their supremacy in this category as world defending champions.

Congo DR will be bracing up to consolidate and erase any goal deficit and win the match to stay in contention for the cadet championship. The team which has been in camp at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, since June, 2010, have been having their two daily training sessions and a feel of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, since yesterday to perfect their strategies.

Their counterparts from Congo are expected in the country today, aboard Air Nigeria from Brazzaville, and will head straight to Hamdala Hotel, Kaduna where both team will be camped.
