Nigeria/Congo-Kinshasa: Eaglets Await Congo U-17 in Kaduna

Members of the Golden Eaglets squad moved to Kaduna from their Abuja camp on Wednesday to intensify preparations for the return leg match against Congo DR in the on-going qualifiers for the 9th edition of the African U-17 Youth Championship slated for January next year in Rwanda.

The Monday Odigie-led squad will take on their visitors at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Sunday. The Golden Eaglets who lost the first leg 0-2 in Point Noire, Congo DR are bracing up to erase the deficit and win convincingly to stay in contention for the African cadet championship.

The team which has been camped at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, since June, began their daily training at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna yesterday. Their counterparts from Congo are expected in the country today aboard Air Nigeria from Brazzaville, and will head straight to Hamdala Hotel, Kaduna where both teams are camped.

Similarly, match Officials for the clash in the on-going African Junior Youth Championship are expected in the country today. They are the Centre Referee, Kasse Ousseynou from Senegal and his compatriots Mr. Gueye Papa (1st Assistant Referee) and Diakhate Moussa (2nd Assistant Referee) are expected from Dakar on Friday aboard Air Nigeria.

The Match Commissioner from Gambia, Mr. Ousmane Conateh will join the flight from Banjul.
