Nigeria: UNICEF Advocates Increased Social Services Budget

Onitsha — United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has called on states of the federation to ensure that their annual budgets have a big element of the social services because the sector is where most of the children's issues lie.

Out-going UNICEF 'A' Field Chief Officer, Enugu, Mrs. Pelucy Ntambirweki, while on a thank you visit to Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, at the Government House, Awka said there was the need to place greater emphasis in increasing budgets of the social services sector considering that health and educational services for instance are very challenging and capital intensive.
