Uganda: Gayaza Road Works Diplace Market, Garages

Kampala — About 1,000 homesteads are affected in the ongoing reconstruction of the Kampala-Gayaza-Zirobwe road, Uganda National Roads Authority spokesperson (UNRA) Dan Alinange has said.

Alinage said the reconstruction works going on along the 15km road would not affect major structures but only temporary ones like the market at Kalerwe, which is on the road reserve.

The road stretches from Mulago 'Kubiri' to Zirobwe. "We asked these people to relocate after we made payments to enable the reconstruction of the road," he said. He said the 10 motor vehicle garages are affected, adding that owners of these places have already been compensated.
