Gambia: Scam at AGS Secretary General Denies Allegation

Reports reaching the Daily Observer have it that a huge sum of money amounting to over one hundred thousand dalasi has been embezzled at the Association of Gambian Sailors (AGS).

However, many critics who hinted this paper said that Abdou Sanyang the secretary general of AGS was responsible for this act. One such critic is Yusupha Sillah, the former chairman of AGS, who had earlier in June 2010, accused the secretary general of the AGS of embezzling the association's fund and wrote a petition to the AGS and the Director of Fisheries. He also called for an independent committee to investigate the matter. "Evidence can be gathered from our bank records because the bank book containing an amount of D80,000, is missing as a result of this embezzlement " Sillah stated on a petition he wrote to the Director of Fisheries.
