Gambia: Taiwan Gives U.S. $50,000 to NDMA

The ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, Dr Richard Shih Monday presented a cheque of US$50,000 (about D1.5 million) to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) through the vice president and minister of Women's Affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy at her office at State House in Banjul.

The money is meant to support ongoing disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts spearheaded by NDMA and its partners. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Shih expressed his sympathy as well as that of the entire government and people of Taiwan for the disaster victims and all those who suffered as a result of the floods that hit the country over the past few days.
