Nigeria: FG to Launch 'Support-A-Public-School' Initiative

Abuja — The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to launch the 'Support-A Public School Initiative' (SAPI), which has been estimated to cost N40million. The 'Adopt-A School' project was part of the reform agenda of former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili.

Chairman, Steering and Co-ordination Team of the One Year Strategy for the development of the education sector, Prof. Godswill Obioma, while presenting an overview of the strategy to stakeholders and Commissioners for Education from the 36 states in Abuja, recently said the project was aimed at attracting the rich in the society, corporate organisations and others to offer voluntary support to public schools.
