Uganda: Govt Needs 27,000 Health Workers

Kampala — Uganda needs 27,167 health workers, according to a report. The Human Resources for Health Data Update report, released by the health ministry in June, shows that only 30,922 (about 56%) positions are filled countrywide in the 2,698 units.

Mulago Hospital has only 1,963 filled positions, while 500 are vacant. The 12 regional hospitals have 3,437 positions filled, with 2,474 being vacant.
