Uganda: Amuru Residents Attack Councillors

Amuru — Residents of Amuru Town Council on Monday disrupted a meeting convened by councillors to seek views on the transfer of its headquarters to Pabbo. At least 50 youth attacked the councillors, forcing them to flee.

They said the district headquarters that have been at the town council since 2006 cannot be moved to Pabbo Sub- county, which they said is far. "Our people also want development. We shall not allow their plan to succeed and the headquarters will remain in Amuru Town Council," one of the protestors, who declined to be named, said.
