Gambia: In Cocaine Case PW3 Begins Testimony

Karamo Saidykhan, a native of Brikama in Kombo Central District, Western Region and a police officer attached to the NIA office, Tuesday 5th of October 2010 began his testimony as the third prosecution witness (PW3) in the ongoing cocaine trial involving; Rudy Rasoel Hamid Ghazi, Juan Carlos Sanchez, Esteaban Zanvalla, Dennis Wilgo Winter, George Sanchez, Louis Dose Fermin, Eric Bottini, Efhriam Micheal Chiduben and Juan Carlos Diar before principal Magistrate Emmanuel Nkea of the Banjul Magistrates Court.

The nine accused persons are facing 10 counts of criminal offences all contrary to the laws of the country. In his testimony, Saidykhan, stated that on the 20th day of May 2010, when he was at the NIA office, he obtained two cautionary statements from Rudy Rasoel Hamid Ghazi (the first accused). He said before he (PW3) obtained the cautionary statements, he called an independent witness by the name Baboucarr Khan. According to him, he (PW3) read the words of the accused person in the presence of the independent witness, Baboucarr Khan, which both of them ( the independent witness and the accused) signed.
