South Africa: Rethink Likely On Ban On Biofuel Maize

Johannesburg — ALTHOUGH it was not possible to change the law this year to appease grain farmers who experience a bumper maize crop harvest, Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson said on Friday the government was warming to the idea of re-examining policies on biofuels.

This could see the country use its excess maize for this purpose without threatening food security.
