Africa: Vaccines Key in Taming Child Killing Diseases

10 October 2010 [MediaGlobal]: In Sub-Saharan Africa, one out of every eight children dies before age five. Pneumonia and diarrhea are the biggest killers of children, accounting for 36 percent of all under-five deaths worldwide, and responsible for three million deaths annually. However, with proper funding, vaccinations can dramatically reduce the number of child deaths each year.

Vaccines are a well-proven, safe, and cost-effective health intervention.
