Johannesburg — BOOSTED by the success of the World Cup, Gauteng's economy is expected to grow 2,5% this year, recovering from last year's 1,7% contraction, according to the provincial economic review and outlook tabled by finance MEC Mandla Nkomfe at the Gauteng legislature yesterday.
The forecast comes after the province unveiled an economic growth strategy that aims to focus on job creation and retention in order to build on this expected growth. In the wake of the recession, Gauteng is looking at ways to improve economic efficiency and service delivery.
