South Africa: R14,9 Million Police Magazine Prompts Minister to Call for Review

Johannesburg — POLICE Minister Nathi Mthethwa yesterday recommended a thorough review of the communication tools used by the police service, following his discovery that a magazine produced on behalf of the police had cost R14,9m over two years.

Mr Mthethwa's comments were in reply to a parliamentary question regarding the production, frequency and cost of a magazine called Rivoningo . The magazine is produced by African Spirit Media, under a 21-month contract, dating from June last year to March next year . The company prints 50000 copies quarterly, at a cost of R42 per magazine.
