The recent lenient judgement which the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Oceanic Bank Plc, Chief Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, got away with for fleecing the bank of over N200bn has continued to generate reactions and raised furor across the country. The judgement, now provoking disapproval and seen as a contradiction of the country's avowed fight against corruption, has elicited controversial responses among Nigerians.

Mrs. Ibru, who, before her fall from the Olympian height of the banking industry where she bestrode as First Lady of Nigerian Banking, was seen as a reference point for what good banking practice was and a very good example of a dexterous lady of substance; a combination of beauty and brains.
