Uganda: Eddy Kenzo Shows Stamina

Kampala — Eddy Kenzo's Stamina album launch at Kati Kati last Friday was definitely a success. From start to finish, you saw a grin on Kenzo's face.

The launch gathered a huge crowd of fans, who had nearly five hours of fun. First were curtain raisers: Iryn Namubiru, Dr. Hilderman, Henry Tigan, Radio and Weasel, Eddie Muwonge, Mesach Semakula, Aziz Azion and Papa Cidy. Then the man himself.

Opening with an orchestral intro of Stamina, he then delved into a number of works, including Super Power and Lonely, a love ballad that's a favourite to many. When he sang, everyone screamed. When he stopped, they screamed. When he asked how everyone was doing, they screamed. Joining him on stage was Lexus Kalema, the author of the Stamina. This silenced all who claimed he stole the song.

Kenzo had a moment introducing his parents to the crowd before singing the lead song, where he was joined by Stamina dancer Ronie Julian.

The whole venue rocked with the Stamina dance. And the show that in July failed to happen because of the bombing on Kampala, finally took off.
