Under the grid system of power transmission, there are three stages of access by which electricity is conveyed from the point of production to its distribution to consumers. These are the stages of generation, transmission and distribution.
These stages may be explained to the layman by comparing them to a linear chain with three links, in which case the first link is generation, the second transmission, and the third distribution. For the circuit that makes for the availability of electricity from generation to distribution to be complete, the links must be joined but in the specific order of generation to transmission and to distribution for the circuit to function properly.
