Nigeria: It is Well With Our Colleges of Education

One of the ways of measuring the success of any country is its educational attainment. The threats facing the development of education in Nigeria are multifarious in nature; among which are poor funding, over stretching of facilities due to population explosion etc.

The recent move to scrap the Colleges of Education in the country is a reflection of the confusion currently going on in the Nigerian education sector. So many policies have been made in the last three to four decades in order to reposition the education sector for a greater productivity and the result has been very poor. It is one step forward and three steps backward. In so many cases, policies which their achievements are unrealistic are made, and this is because we borrow some of these policies from other parts of the world without taking into consideration the factors that make such policies work in those areas.
