Sierra Leone: NRA: Part of 'Land That We Love, Country', Too

Freetown — Over the past month or so, the Acting Commissioner-General, Haja Kallah-Kamara, and the Director of Finance, Abdulai Conteh, of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) have been bombarded in the local print media - especially the Standard Times; later joined by the New Vision; The Exclusive; and African Champion - with allegations of corruption, mismanagement, and abuse of office.

This Column, which I started writing in SALONE TIMES in 1991, has strived to always stay on the pedestal of journalistic objectivity; therefore, I do not aim to defend the lampooned public officials here. However, I make a humble appeal to the patriotic sensibilities of the newspapers to 'sheathe their journalistic swords' and let relevant patriots stimulate a 'heart-to-heart' talk with the NRA.
