Tunisia: World Bank Committed to Support Nation's Development Efforts

Tunis — Mr. Ridha Chalghoum, Finance Minister Mohamed met, on Thursday in Tunis, with a World Bank (WB) delegation led by Mr. Simon Gray, Director of the Maghreb, Near East and North Africa Department at the World Bank.

The meeting focused on sectors of co-operation between Tunisia and the World Bank and ways to develop it.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the major axes of Tunisia's economic and financial policies, pointing to the interest that the country takes in preservation of financial balances, raising the pace of growth and strengthening the national economy's competitiveness, in materialization of the objectives set by the 2009-2014 presidential program.

For his part, Mr. Gray stressed the Tunisian economy's achievements, more particularly in preservation of general balances, in spite the difficult international situation.

He expressed the World Bank's readiness to back up Tunisia's development efforts, particularly consolidation of competitiveness of the economy and job creation.
