Uganda: Country to Host Four-Nation Rugby Meet

UGANDA has been handed the hosting rights for the four nation rugby CAR Cup tournament due in June next year. The four nation's tournament has Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Ivory Coast.

The local governing body URU is excited by the opportunity saying it is a chance for them to boost their income and reduce on expenditure.

"It's a great opportunity to host this tournament. It means we shall reduce our expenditure on international travel and also attract more sponsors on board," Martin Kasasira head of Uganda Rugby Union's marketing and sponsorship stated.

Uganda was handed the rights during the ninth Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) assembly in Ghana on Saturday.

Kasasira was optimistic that his committee will find it easy to market the tournament locally and bring more sponsors on board.

"I'm confident sponsors like to associate with a brand of international standards. Bringing home these big nations is enough to attract them on board," he explained.
