Nigeria: NUPENG Vows to Continue Strike Indefinitely

The hope for a hitch-free Yuletide season may be dashed as the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Union of Nigeria has vowed (NUPENG), to continue its strike until the case pending in a Lagos High Court involving Bank PHB and MRS Nigeria Limited (the third largest fuel depot in Nigeria), is resolved.

Addressing news men in his office on Friday, Comrade Benneth Korie, the National Chairman, Ogun state branch of NUPENG and the national security coordinator, stated that until the government intervenes in the matter by bringing about a peaceful resolution between the bank and MSR, leading to the retention of the services of about 2,500 workers sacked by the organisation, the half day strike would go on indefinitely.
