Angola: Cities to Have Natural Calamity Warning System

Luanda — The Home Affairs deputy minister for Civil Protection and Fire Service, Eugénio Laborinho, announced for 2011 the installation of natural calamity warning systems in some cities of the country, to control and prevent heavy rains and lightning, that have lately claimed many lives and causing material damages.

The government official was speaking to the press at the end of a visit he paid to four zones of central Huambo province, affected by rains, under a programme of checking the problems caused by natural calamities in the region.
