Somalia: Clash Re-Erupts in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — Heavy clash between Somali forces with the help of African Union peacekeepers and Al Shabaab fighters re-erupted in the Somali capital Mogadishu, killing at least 2 persons and wounding 6 others in Mogadishu, witnesses said on Saturday.

Most of the confrontation has taken place in the districts of Bondhere and Cabdul Aziz in the northern od Benadir region where the seaside capital situates.

The clash is said to break out after more al Shabaab fighters have launched hit and run attacks on Somali force and AMISOM troops in north of Mogadishu.

Heavy gunshots and artillery barrages could be heard in the neighborhoods of capital. Reports said that the people killed or wounded in the confrontation were all civilians.

Three civilians are reported to have wounded in one place after a random mortar shell hit them.

Somalia, which situates in the horn of Africa, has not had any functioning central rule since 991.
