Gambia: 'Nation Has Second Highest Interest Rate in Sub Saharan Africa', Says IMF Rep

"The Gambia has the second highest interest rate in sub-Saharan African and that is an area we are aware of and we know it cannot be engineered by the Central Bank by putting restrictions. It is a structural issue that emanates from the budget" said Mashack Tjirongo, IMF Resident Representative at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi on Friday.

Mr. Tjirongo made these statements on Friday at a meeting orgainsed by the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
