Nigeria: Student Association Starts Recreation Park Project

The Student Government Association (SGA), American University of Nigeria has embarked on the construction of a recreational park in the school premises.

Speaking to journalists in Yola recently, the association's president, Effiong Okpo said there was need to create a place where students can go to relax.

Speaking on his election, he said it was not easy to meet the high standards of the school's management and students.

"Well, during the elections we had challenges. There were personal and religious challenges. I faced quite a number of challenges too; it's no easy ride to becoming the SGA president. You will need to prove your worth; meeting certain criteria from the beginning and a lot more. There is even the need to connect with your colleagues who are also vying for positions," he said.

Okpo disclosed that every executive member in the association has an independent role to play to avoid interference, conflicts, infighting and problems.
