Independent presidential candidate Samuel Lubega has urged President Museveni to hand over power peacefully if he loses the elections or risk having a 'Tunisia or Egypt scenario.'
Mr Lubega cited the current mass protests in Egypt and Tunisa as lessons for the sitting presidents as Mr Museveni to draw from in regard to respect of public decisions.
"Who is President Museveni to say he can never be ousted from power by a mere paper? Yet the paper carries the public mandate and decision in favour or against someone in power," Mr Lubega asked during a rally in Jinja on Sunday. He added:"If he fails to honour the ballot, the tsunami blowing across Africa could be an immediate remedy."
Widespread protests have erupted in the two North African states over the last couple of weeks as demonstrators seek to uproot regimes entrenched there for decades.
