Nigeria: Court Order Can No Stop Legislative Functions - Bauchi Speaker

Bauchi — Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Engineer Halliru Dauda Jika, has said that the court injunction instituted by the former Speaker cannot stop the legislators from performing their functions.

Abubakar Ahmed Faggo, former speaker of the state Assembly, was impeached last week Wednesday by 21 members of the house on grounds of lack of purposeful leadership. But the former speaker challenged his impeachment in court and obtained an order restraining the new Speaker, Jika, from parading himself as Speaker. Jika has also gone to court to challenge the restraining order.
