Uganda: I Thought Our Members of Parliament Were Law Makers

The recent Constitutional Court ruling on the position of MPs who changed political allegiance and the simplistic reactions advanced by both the affected MPs, the Speaker of Parliament and the chairman of Electoral Commission leaves one wondering whether Ugandans are not gambling their lives and the future of the nation by entrusting in the hands of our present MPs.

I am no lawyer but I am proud to have participated in the making of the Uganda Constitution (1994/5), much as I am disappointed by the frequent abuse of this very important document which is the supreme law of the land.
