Lokoja — Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Chief Sylvester Onoja on Monday said the state government had begun work on the site of the newly approved Federal University of Science and Technology, Lokoja.

The commissioner, who spoke in Lokoja, said all arrangements had been concluded to ensure the smooth take-off of the institution at its temporary site, Government Science Secondary School, Lokoja.

He debunked insinuations that the school was not suitable for the take-off of a university, saying it successfully served the same purpose for the state polytechnic.

The commissioner said construction of projects such as security posts, entrance gates and the administrative block was to pave way for the commencement of the first academic session in September.
