Somalia: Three Die, Six Wounded in Mogadishu Battle

Mogadishu — At least 3 persons killed and 6 others injured in Mogadishu that was between Somali government forces joined by African Union peacekeepers and Al shabaab fighters, witnesses said on Monday.

Most of the fighting is reported to have taken place in the districts of Howlwadag and Hodan in seaside Mogadishu, according to local residents.

Heavy gun battle and artillery bombardments, which the two warring sides were bounding each other, could be heard in Mogadishu.

Some reports suggest that the two warring sides captured fighters alive.

It adds that a number of AMISOM soldiers killed during the fighting, but after making contacts, African Union peacekeepers officials declined to comment.
