Somalia: Police Seize Explosive Devices in Mogadishu - Official

Mogadishu — The police forces of the transitional federal government of Somalia on Tuesday said they had seized a number hand grenades in Mogadishu operations.

In a press conference held in Mogadishu, Abdullahi Hassan Barise, the spokesman of Somali police said that at least 5 hand grenades were discovered and captured during search operations in Mogadishu's Hamar jajab district.

He said that elements of Al shabaab have smuggled all these explosive devices in the TFG controlled district of Hamar jajab, adding they found grenades in house in Benadir region.

The police spokesman said that these operations of insuring the overall security situation in the capital.

The statement of Somali police comes as two Somali soldiers killed and three others wounded last week after they were attacked by unknown men with hand grenades.
