Young Africans members heaved a sigh of relief yesterday when the club's chief sponsor, Yusuf Manji backtracked on his earlier decision to abandon the troubled club.

Manji opted to remain the club's chief financier at a request of the club elders' council and some influential members.

Club chairman Lloyd Nchunga confirmed yesterday that the elders' council and leaders of some Dar es Salaam club branches successfully mediated between Manji and some club officials.

On Monday, the business tycoon threatened to terminate his sponsorship contract with Yanga, saying he was fed up with the now and again leadership wrangles within the club.

Manji was particularly irked by claims by leaders of Yanga's Mtogole branch that he shoulders blame for the crisis that threatened to tear apart the club last month.

The branch had accused Manji of being responsible for the now and again crises within the Jangwani street club.
