THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, yesterday, kicked off its campaign ahead the April general elections, describing the three Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, senatorial candidates in the state as "rejected members of the PDP."
The State Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, who spoke addressed party members in Orhiomnwon, Ikpoba Okhai and Oredo Local Government Areas of the state, recalled all the tirades against the PDP in the state by Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his ACN, adding that the emergence of Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Herbettar Okonofua and Deacon Doming Obende, who were members of the PDP until few months ago, as senatorial candidates of the ACN was a "direct contradiction" of comments from the Governor that the PDP was a bad party.
According to him "Uzamere was a PDP member until few months ago. He discovered that if he goes for primaries, there is no way Daisy Danjuma will not defeat him. To avoid defeat in our primaries, Uzamere left our party and joined the ACN and today he is the senatorial candidate of the party. Yet the Governor will come out to say there is nothing good in the PDP. That is a clear message that those who cannot make second 11 in PDP are first 11 in ACN.
"If you go to Esan, their senatorial candidate is Herbettar Okonofua, who until few months ago was a woman leader and member of the PDP. She discovered that there is now way she can contest and win the primaries with Senator Odion Ugbesia. She went to ACN and today she is their candidate. In Edo North, they picked Domingo Obende, who was a member of the PDP three months. Realizing that the cannot meet up with the political arsenal of Senator Yisa Braimoh, he decided to move to ACN and today is the senatorial candidate of the ACN" he said.
