Zambia: Copper Production to Reach 800,000 Tonnes

THE copper production target will this year hit more than 800,000 tonnes, exceeding the earlier projection of 740 000 tonnes.

Mines and Minerals Development Minister Maxwell Mwale said yesterday that the new mining projects as well as expanded operations on the Copperbelt and North-Western provinces would trigger higher production and that the one million tonnes mark would be attained in 2014.
