18 February 2011

Mukono — The suspected killer of gay activist David Kato has been remanded to Luzira Prison. The Mukono Grade One Magistrate Ruth Nabbasa jailed Enock Nsubuga Balibagga, 25, for allegedly killing Kato at his house in Bukasa Village in Mukono.

Nsubuga was arrested on February 2 after a tipped off by the accused's uncle. He will reappear in court on March 3. However, some activists said they were not happy with the manner in which the suspect was brought to court saying he would have been left to move without handcuffs. Pauline Kimanyo, a gay activist, said they are not happy with the way the case is being handled but said they will be patient, until justice prevails.
