Nigeria: League Sponsorship - Court Chides Owumi

Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of the Federal High Court in Lagos Monday ruled that the sacked Chairman of the Nigerian Premier League Board (NPL), Mr. Davidson Owumi acted without mandate in appointing a lawyer to defend a suit filed by a firm, Total Promotions Limited against the board and others over the title sponsorship rights of the football league.

Total Promotions, it would be recalled, had filed the suit to challenge the propriety of the cancellation of the football League sponsorship contract earlier awarded to MTN Nigeria Limited.
