Nigeria: Eight-Hundred Ogoni in Benin Republic - Group Petitions Jonathan

The Ogoni Solidarity Forum (OSF) has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to expand the ongoing Amnesty Programme on disarmament and rehabilitation of Niger Delta militants to accommodate an estimated 800 Ogoni's currently languishing in refugee camps under harsh conditions in several towns in Republic of Benin since 1997.

OSF, in a letter to President Jonathan, transmitted through the Chairman of Friends of the Earth International, Nnimmo Bassey, the group advocated that the displaced Ogonis be made to benefit from the numerous skills training, scholarship programmes and capacity development projects in several foreign countries were former militants are now being trained.
