Calabar — Boat operators in Calabar have asked the government of Equatorial Guinea to pay them $158 million as compensation for what they described as unjust treatment, attack, torture, detention and killing of their members by agents of their government.
Members of the association made the demand Tuesday when they met with the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samson Wudah. The police commissioner had on Friday last week, prevented the group from embarking on a peaceful demonstration to the Equatorial Guinea Consulate in Calabar.
