Kenya: 10 Years for Rape Attempt

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years for attempting to defile a five-year-old girl. Paul Ndung'u Kamau had appeared before Naivasha Principal Magistrate Peter Mulwa charged with attempting to defile the girl on April 21 2010 at Karate village in Naivasha. He also faced an alternative charge of indecently assaulting the girl by touching her private parts.

The court was told that the complainant was asleep in the house with her elder brother when the accused, who was their neighbour, broke into the house and attempted to defile her.
