Established in 1983, the National Democratic Institute, NDI, is a non-partisan, non- governmental organisation that has worked across the world to establish and strengthen democratic institutions and practices. In this interview, the Senior Resident Director, Central and West Africa, Carlo Binda, tells Chibuzo Ukaibe that the passage of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill by the House of Representatives is a major and needed step towards building confidence between state institutions and the citizenry.
