Nigeria: Why Cement Price Went Up - Aliko Dangote

Lagos — The President and chief executive officer of Dangote Cement group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on Thursday in Lagos, attributed the lingering rise in the price of bags of cement in the country to the suspension of operations by Dangote cement companies due to lack of diesel.

Dangote said for almost three weeks the operations of the companies were grounded due to scarcity of diesel while an accident also occurred at the Apapa Lagos plant which he said led to the shutting down of production. The plant has daily production capacity of about 20,000 metric tones.
