Namibia: Budget Billions Expected to Roll for Jobs

Finance Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila is expected to start clamping down on unemployment by pumping an additional N$1 billion or more into the economy, pushing up total expenditure to above N$30 billion, when she tables Namibia's 21st national budget in Parliament this afternoon.

The 2011-12 Budget, economists believe, will heed National Planning Commission (NPC) Director General Tom Alweendo's call for a paradigm shift to curb the country's unemployment rate of 51 per cent, and should see fiscal policy move to create more jobs.
