Nairobi — The summonses issued by the International Criminal Court from the investigations into Kenya's descent into post-election violence represents a major step in the pursuit of justice for the thousands brutally murdered, tortured, raped and run out of their homes.

The ruling requiring the appearance before ICC judges by Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, suspended Cabinet ministers William Ruto and Henry Kosgey, Public Service head Francis Muthaura, former Police Commissioner Hussein Ali and radio presenter Joshua Sang is bound to generate a great deal of discussion in the coming days and weeks.
