Tunis — The participants in the National Conference of women for equality and citizenship underlined the need to face up any form of material and moral violence and humiliating practice or harming dignity of women and set up measures of protection and support to women victims of violence.
They called, in a document published at the closing works titled:
"The Declaration of Tunisians for Equality and Citizenship", on promulgating a law on combating violence against women, which defines measures to be taken to eradicate this phenomenon.
During a conference, on Sunday in Tunis, at the initiative of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD), the Association of Tunisian Women of Research on Development, the Maghrebi group 95 for equality and the Women's Commission of the Tunisian Human Right League (LTDH), the participants pointed out that equality in dignity, employment, freedom and social justice are key foundations for the achievement of effective citizenship of women and the edification of the rule of law and institutions.
"The political reform and democratic transition"," the future of relation between religion and the State" are the main themes discussed by the participants who stressed the need to separate the State's institutions and the religious institutions".
