Tanzania: More Students to Join Form Five This Year

A total of 36,366 students have been selected to join Form 5 while 916 others have been picked to join vocational training centres this year.

Announcing the selection results yesterday, the minister of Education and Vocational Training, Dr Shukuru Kawambwa, said the former would join 204 government secondary schools while the latter would join four vocational training centres.

"This year, the number of students joining Form 5 went up by 2,704, while those enrolled in vocational training centres increased by 19," said the minister.He said this was equal to an 8.03 per cent increase for those joining Form 5 and 2.12 per cent for those who will go for vocational training.

According to the minister, this year has seen more students enrolled for A level and vocational training centres than the previous one.Last year, a total of 32, 765 students joined Form 5 and 897 were enrolled in vocational training centres.
