Uganda: Rescue Libyan Embassy Employees - MPs

Parliament yesterday tasked the government to explain the fate of all Ugandans who have been working at the Libyan embassy in Uganda. MPs told the Speaker that Ugandans employed at the embassy, and some suppliers of goods and services had gone unpaid for months even before the onset of the Libyan crisis.

Mr Elijah Okupa (Kasilo) tasked the Prime Minister to table government resolutions on how they would aid such people and their families because their lives depended on the work at the embassy. Speaker Edward Ssekandi gave the government up to today to tackle the matter. "We have information that the Libyan Ambassador, Mr Abdallah Bujeldian, has found his way to South Africa leaving our people stranded," Mr Okupa said. "The government should assure Ugandans that the work they have been doing shall be paid for."
