Gambia: Court Orders Sale of Futurelec Building

Justice Emmanuel O. Fagbenle of the High Court in Banjul, in a landmark judgement, has ordered the sale of Futurelec building, along Bertil Harding Highway in Kotu in a civil suit instituted by Guaranty Trust Bank Gambia Limited against Futurelec Gambia Limited.

Justice Fagbenle's judgement stemmed from the summons filed by the plaintiff, Guaranty Trust Bank Gambia Limited against Futurelec Gambia Limited. The originating summon was supported by a 19-paragraph affidavit sworn to by one Abdoulie Jobarteh of the Legal Unit of Guaranty Trust Bank. The plaintiff therefore filed 3 additional affidavits sworn to on the 26th of June 2009, 9th of July 2009 and further additional affidavits sworn to on the 11th of October 2010 and all were deposed by the same Abdoulie Jobarteh.
