Uganda: FDC Officials Secretly Meet NRMs Seniors

TOP Forum for Democartic Change (FDC) leaders are reportedly frequently meeting senior National Résistance Movement (NRM) officials. The last time such a romour circulated was over a year ago and it turned out that several FDC officials including then FDC Maracha MP Alex Onzima had been meeting top NRM leaders. Eventually Onzima defected from the opposition and joined the ruling party.

In the recent rumour the FDC officials including MPs have been attending late night meetings at several locations in Kampala.

Some meetings are rumoured to have taken place in Entebbe probably State House, which has raised speculations that they could have been with President Yoweri Museveni. This has reportedly infuriated FDC leader Dr. Kizza Basigye who is said to have demanded an investigation.

The party will convene next week to discuss the issue and also remind its members especially the newly elected MPs that it against the party policy to meet NRM officials at night without FDC's approval.
